Somali Pirates Get Just Desserts, Sort of...

A US Navy ship destroyed a boat carrying Somali Pirates as it began to attack a merchant vessel, finally showing the might of the US military and it's willingness to defend private property. However, the Navy allowed the pirates to escape, considering that the pirates wouldn't be able to mount another attack. What kind of justice is that? What's to stop them from returning to Somalia, rearming, and attacking again? The lesson of Thomas Jefferson's willingness to go to war against the Barbary Pirates is still being ignored. I guess Jefferson wasn't compassionate enough.

UPDATE

Via Thrutch, Time magazine refers to piracy as a "trade". That view is probably held by most on the left and would explain a lot about Obama's foreign policy, mainly that there is no right or wrong, just moral relativism.
