On Disc Golf

I started playing disc golf last summer when I was invited by some co-workers to play after work. Living in Huntington Beach I had played once about nine years ago when I first moved
there and heard there was such a thing as disc golf and that there was actually a course in town devoted to it. It didn't grab me at the time and seemed like something that hippies and stoners did (it still seems that way). But playing with friends who were already passionate about it got me playing and it has become a regular part of my life now (I think my wife can be considered a "disc golf" widow now). It's really laid back but still somewhat competitive, lots of junk talking, jokes, cocktails and good times. And living in southern California makes it a year round activity.

Twice a week we meet for lunch to play near the office in pairs - Team IS (my team) and Team AV. In case anyone cares, I'm going to start posting scores in the sidebar. Lately Team IS has been on a roll, winning the last six rounds or so after Team AV won four straight. It's a nine-hole course so we start each round fresh. Today's scores:

First Round:

Team IS: -3
Team AV: +1

Second Round:

Team IS: -1
Team AV: +10

We were at three under on the second round heading into the last hole but we both bogeyed. Nuts! Check the "links" section for more on disc golf. And don't call it frisbee golf!
